Sharing a rare glimpse of his unique and exclusive photographs taken in Abbey Road Studios with an insight behind the scenes with the Beatles in person from someone who was actually there with the band that day.
David Magnus was the only photographer permitted by the Band at Abbey Road Studios on 24/25th of June 1967 when The Beatles recorded their live song “All You Need Is Love” for the” Our World “program, which was the world’s first live TV satellite linkup.
The Beatles special guests included Eric Clapton, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Marianne Faithful, Graham Nash, Keith Moon, Pattie Boyd, and The Small Faces.
Only later after July 7th, 1967 when “All You Need Is Love” was released as a single in the UK, did those who were lucky enough to be with The Beatles on the evening of the 25th June 1967 in Abbey Road Studios fully understand what a unique and privileged time it was.
David took the last ever photographs of Brian Epstein and The Beatles together during this weekend’s recording at Abbey Road Studios on the 24th/25th of June 1967, as Brian was to die a few weeks later.
David’s early work with The Beatles and their open acceptance of him allowed David unprecedented access that no one else in the world had. This culminated when The Beatles took part in the first-ever live worldwide TV satellite broadcast called “Our World” with their live performance of The Beatles recording their song “All you need is love” More than 400 million people worldwide viewed this incredible show and David was there to record it.
David worked with most of the famous pop groups of the day in the 60’s and 70’s. from The Rolling Stones, The Who, and The Beach Boys. David also worked in the film business for many years, working both in the UK and overseas on many English, Continental, and American Films as well as in the Television Industry.
