Strange Boy has arrived as one of the new Irish greats. Having released his striking debut album to resounding critical acclaim in 2021 Strange Boy is charting a fast rise to all-time greatness.
Hot Press named it in their 2021 Top 6 hip-hop albums in the world stating: ‘“Strange Boy presents his full set of skills in 10 astonishing tracks which detail his personal story, a story that is unique, but relatable for many other young Irish people.”
Having established the new genre of Traditional Irish Rap (Trad-Rap) with producer Enda Gallery, Strange Boy has attracted and delighted audiences at numerous festivals, including The Great Escape, Sionna Music, Doolin Folk Festival, Body & Soul, Altogether Now, and It Takes a Village.
His achievements were recognized this year when he was awarded the Prestigious Liam O’Flynn award and honoured with a residency in the National Concert Hall to further pioneer his new fusion of hip-hop and traditional Irish music.
His featured verse on It’s Alright featured on the global hit BBC series Normal People. Strange Boy, as well as in the ‘Ireland in Music’ series which was broadcast on PBS in the United States as well as The Great Escape Online Festival.
Currently working on his highly anticipated second album tipped to be one of the stand-out albums of 2023, He is a new artist for a new generation in Ireland, singled out by District Magazine as a “national treasure”.
“The dominant sense is of an artist trying something that hasn’t been done before (or if it has, not with such vital character).” – Tony Clayton Lea (The Irish Times)
“Strange Boy has made one of 2021’s outstanding hip hop records” – Ed Power (The Irish Examiner)
“For the first time, the music of youth meets the callings of Ireland’s musical past in a way that is not only convincing but powerful beyond measure.” – Cailean Coffey (Golden Plec)

Maureen Kennelly, Director of The Arts Council commented:

“Storytelling and the oral arts are an integral part of our traditional arts and Strange Boy’s contemporary take on the seanchaí is a relevant and natural response to an ever-evolving artform, bringing the traditional arts to new, more diverse audiences. We are delighted to partner with the National Concert Hall to present this award, honouring the legacy of the great Liam O’Flynn, to such an exciting, innovative artist.”

Paddy Casey has been at the forefront of the Irish music scene since his debut album Amen (So Be It) in 1999, while his second release Living became the biggest seller in Ireland out-selling U2. Book direct here, get direct fees.

PADDY CASEY RELEASES NEW SINGLE ‘WON’T TAKE MUCH’ OUT & ANNOUNCES NEW DOUBLE ALBUM

Paddy Casey is set to release his brand new single ‘Won’t Take Much’ on Friday 26 March 2021, alongside announcing the release of his fifth album ‘Turn This Ship Around’, a double album due to be released this summer.

‘Won’t Take Much’, the latest release from the album is a bouncy, uplifting, guitar-driven song bursting with brass and strings. Featuring on the first part of the double album ‘Turn This Ship Around’, the single reflects the upbeat, electric, synth and guitar driven side to the album, while the second part embodies a more laid-back, acoustic vibe.

Speaking of the single, Paddy Casey said: “‘Won’t Take Much’ is an independent production, recorded and produced in my own home studio. To capture the energy of a new song ‘coming to life’ the single was written and recorded in the same day with friends and bandmates being called on later to add strings and horns.

Having been at the forefront of the Irish music scene since his multi platinum selling debut album ‘Amen (So Be It)’, Paddy Casey’s career has taken him all over the globe touring with acts like The Pretenders, R.E.M, Ian Brown, Blondie and Tracy Chapman to name a few. Closer to home he has played all over Ireland, including a sold out Dublin Castle, RDS and a record-breaking week long run in The Olympia Theatre, alongside special guest spots with U2, Pearl Jam, Bob Dylan and more.

Paddy Casey’s hugely successful debut album ‘Amen (So Be It) achieved many international highlights including tracks being featured in hit television shows such as ‘Dawson’s Creek’ and ‘Roswell’ alongside extensive American and European tours. Further establishing himself as one of the country’s most successful artists, his second album ‘Living’ went on to become one of the biggest ever selling albums in Ireland (approximately 15 times platinum).

This was followed by the release of ‘Addicted To Company, Part 1’, with this album seeing Paddy Casey continue to tour across America, performing on The Late Show with David Letterman, securing a week-long slot on MTV and even managing to have drinks with Beyonce and Jay Z along the way. After the release of this  album Paddy Casey decided that it was time to part ways with his record label and go independent  in order to let himself and his music veer off in any direction the wind carried them, resulting in his first release ‘The Secret Life Of’ – a resounding success with the album reaching platinum status.

‘Won’t Take Much’ the brand new single from Paddy Casey is set for release across all digital platforms on the 26 March, with ‘Turn This Ship Around’ was released in Sept  2021.

Gilbert O’Sullivan

17/05/2019
Post Image

Gilbert O’Sullivan has finally taken his rightful place as one of the country’s top singer/songwriters… A great evening – a great concert from a great performer.
– Bristol Evening Post

 Artist Biography;

  • Gilbert O’Sullivan was born Raymond Edward O’Sullivan in 1946 in Ireland. He moved to Swindon, England with his family aged 7 and after a formal education became a student at Swindon Art College, specializing in graphic design.
  • But he had another love – music – and after forming and joining local bands as a drummer/vocalist, he started writing his own songs, heavily influenced by The Beatles as writers and Bob Dylan as a performer. Calling himself Gilbert, with a very distinctive image, two singles released by CBS Records and one with the Major Minor label, got little attention. Undeterred, he sent a demo tape to Gordon Mills, the man behind Tom Jones and Engelbert Humperdinck, who impressed with his song writing, became his manager. The result was his first single on the MAM label, Nothing Rhymed, became a UK Top Ten hit in 1970.
  •
  • More hit singles and a debut album Himself followed. But it was 1972’s Alone Again (Naturally) that sealed his fame, topping the USA charts for six weeks and garnering three Grammy nominations. Soon after, he got his first three British number one hits with Clair, Get Down and LPBack to Front. Gilbert was named “Songwriter of the Year” at the 18th Ivor Novello Awards, embarked on an 18-city UK tour and a USA tour, performed sold-out concerts, clocked another UK Top 10 hit with Why Oh Why Oh Why and in 1974 won a third Ivor Novello award.
  •
  • A few years later, Gilbert parted company, due to musical differences, with his manager, and following new representation teamed up with Gus Dudgon (Elton John, Chris Rea) as a producer for his next album. The critically acclaimed Off Centre released by CBS in 1990 produced the international hit What’s In A Kiss.
  • Litigation with former manager and record company prevented him from releasing any new product for a number of years. However, even during this period he never stopped writing. That to him is the key to everything he does as an artiste. As Gilbert says, ‘Without the songs, there is no artist.’
  •
  • 1990 saw the release of the album In the Key of G, producing a minor hit So What Whilst recording his second album in the 90’s, Sounds of the Loop, which contains the now classic Peggy Lee duet Can’t think straight, he was involved in another law suit, this time against rapper Biz Markie for sampling Alone Again (Naturally) without permission. Gilbert’s win set a new benchmark for protection against copyright infringement.
  •
  • The 2000s have seen Gilbert enjoying a career revival with The Berry Vest of Gilbert O’Sullivan returning him to the UK Top 20 in 2004, Gilbertville (2011) enjoying success in the UK and Japan where in 1994 he had a number 1 with the song Tomorrow, Today, and well-received performances at the 2008 Glastonbury Festival and London’s Royal Albert Hall in 2009.
  •
  • Gilbert is still writing, recording, performing and touring with success. His lasts concerts received rave reviews for his undiminished voice and “…the enduring quality of his work – the sheer tunefulness, lyrical gymnastics and wit” (Daily Post, March 2012).
  •
  • His current compilation entered the UK album charts at Number 12 Gilbert O’Sullivan: The Very Best Of – A Singer & His Songs (2012) and following this ‘Ooh Wakka Doo’ became the theme song for National Lottery adverts across the UK. Cover versions of his songs continue to be released, in particular ‘Alone Again, (Naturally)’, with the latest being Neil Diamond and Diana Krall featuring Michael Buble.

AMA Music Agency proudly represents Waterford born Singer/Songwriter and Grammy Awards nominee Gilbert O’Sullivan.

He was the superstar who topped the UK and US single charts in the 70s with songs of endearing tunefulness, unabashed sentiment and existentialist musings. Today, British singer-songwriter Gilbert O’Sullivan continues to be regarded with tremendous affection and his songs remain well-loved around the world.

In 1991, five wannabe Mancunian musicians came together and cracked the spark that ignited the explosion which became Oasis.
